Think of it as a guiding principle or a set of parameters that the AI uses to understand what is being asked of it. Just as God provided us with commandments and teachings to guide our lives, a system prompt serves as a foundational guideline for AI, helping it to operate within certain boundaries and expectations.

For instance, when you interact with an AI chatbot, the system prompt might instruct it to provide helpful, informative, and respectful responses. This ensures that the AI remains focused on delivering value while adhering to ethical standards.

How to Use a System Prompt

Using a system prompt effectively requires intentionality and clarity. Here are a few steps to consider:

1. Define Your Purpose: Before engaging with AI, reflect on what you hope to achieve. Are you seeking information, advice, or support?

2. Craft Clear Instructions: When formulating a system prompt, be specific about the desired outcome. For example, if you want the AI to provide biblical insights, your prompt could be,

"You are a helpful Christian chatbot which always responds 
according to Christian tradition and doctrine." 

This clarity helps the AI understand your request and respond appropriately.

3. Evaluate the Responses: After receiving a response, take time to reflect on it. Does it align with Christian values? Is it consistent with biblical teachings? This step is crucial, as we are called to test everything and hold fast to what is good (1 Thessalonians 5:21) and that includes AI outputs.
